What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is an approach that is patient-centred rather than disease-centred. It gives outstanding results since it focuses on achieving health through optimising physiological function, so that the body can deal with the cause of the symptoms directly.

The fact is that diseases don’t just happen. They result from complex, interacting factors unique to each individual. In Functional Medicine, the medical tests and treatments link current scientific research with emerging options in clinical care. The tests uncover the biochemical function. The therapies help to detoxify and to improve the nutritional status so that optimal health can be restored and maintained.

The Initial Consultation

The initial consultation with Dipika Joshi includes a detailed discussion of the questionnaire (please detach and complete prior to the appointment), a stress check, an acid test, a zinc status check, the vitality and longevity health check and Chapman reflex points (which involves neuro-lingual testing).

After this testing is completed, dietary recommendations will be given along with an individual supplement programme. Follow-up consultations are recommended at intervals of 2-6 weeks, in order to make adjustments and to track the improvements and changes that have occurred.

Her ethos is that the tests offer objective measurements that can be successfully used to determine both the cause of poor health and the potential cure for it. She uses state-of-the art tests to determine what is not functioning properly before using her nutritional expertise to recommend vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes and essential fatty acids, along with appropriate dietary and lifestyle recommendations. Dipika Joshi is dedicated to patient-centred diagnosis and treatment in order to help you to help yourself.
